Awaken the Senses Retreat

If you are a woman in your 40s, 50s or beyond who is ready to tap into your senses to reveal your true spirit and create a more fulfilling life – then join Andrea Fisher for a 3 day weekend retreat from July 28-30th in Thoona, north-east Victoria.

Traveling to Thoona, you absorb the peaceful setting, generated by the now comfortably converted setting of the former St Andrew’s Church built in 1906

Entering the accommodation, you feel the coziness of the solid fuel heating, and your nostrils are tantilised by the smell of home cooking.

Joining others in the comfy chairs, you reflect on your day’s activities that have engaged your senses – the sights and sounds of the bush and farming country, the relaxing music, smells of the essential oils, the touches of self care, and tasting the delicious food we share.

The peace is balanced by the sounds of laughter of your new retreat friends and together we uncover your inner wisdom while having plenty of fun.

As the sun sets over the red brick church, you move towards the outdoor woodfired pizza oven, and the campfire. Life feels good!

So why should YOU join us at Thoona for 3 days?

The retreat at Thoona is the perfect place to connect with yourself and others through your your senses to create a heightened awareness of how you want to create an inner transformation. You will enjoy peace and quiet balanced by connection and fun, with interactive activities to better understand how each of your six senses define who you are. (Yes, six!)

The Venue

The former St Andrew’s Church in Thoona, in north east Victoria is a lovely old redbrick building, built in 1906, now renovated into a dwelling with a rustic garden. Enjoy the Naples paved area with a rock pizza oven and if it’s sunny we can dine outdoors in the Tuscan area surrounded by olive trees.

The church has 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 3 toilets. In addition there is an annex with 4 king single beds. A solid fuel slow combustion heater keeps the building cozy and atmospheric. Lovely walks, outdoor seating areas and places for reflection are abundant.

Thoona is a small rural village situated midway between Shepparton (less than an hour’s drive) and Wangaratta (25 minutes) and Benalla (30 minutes). It is 2 hours 45 minutes from Melbourne.

The Cuisine

Imagine the smells and tastes of delicious home cooked winter comfort food: soups, delicious casserole, home cooked pizzas from the rock pizza oven.

Simple food – but healthy, and mostly self serve. Vegetarians and meat eaters will both be catered for.

Our program will allow you to awaken and engage the senses – sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch, plus of course, a sixth sense, your intuition. Through a series of simple safe exercises to enable you to fully embrace the sensory life, you spend time inside and out, together and alone and enjoy an outing with your fellow participants. You’ll come away refreshed and reconnected to your spirit and know what’s important in your life.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get there?

There is no public transport, so plan to drive. Specific direction will be provided after registration. However, it is an easy 55 minute drive from Shepparton and about 30 minutes or less from Benalla and Wangaratta.

Special Dietary Needs?

Food will be simple, largely self serve food, and will be mainly warm comfort winter style food. If you have specific dietary needs, please contact Andrea before to discuss. Vegetarians will be catered for.

Cancellation Policy

AS a small intimate style retreat it is likely that places will fill quickly. In order to gain your commitment, there is a firm cancelation policy so that others don’t miss out. If you cancel more than a month before, you will receive your fee back, less a deposit of $150. Cancel less than a month before the retreat and you will lose 50% of the fee. If you cancel less than a week before, you will lose 75% of your fee.

Do I need to Share a Bathroom or Room?

The retreat is held in a converted church. The owner Glenda reminds us that “it is not the Hyatt” but it has it’s own charm and attraction and is very comfortable.

Not all the rooms have solid walls.

Those described as semi private may have a shared wall that is a curtain or concertina wall, offering visual privacy but not 100% auditory privacy.

There is also an annex separate to the church which has 4 king single bed upstairs. It is heated with a reverse cycle air conditioner.

It may not be suitable for you if you need your own room with sole use of an ensuite.

There may be room for some people who have their own accommodation on wheels – eg a mobile home of campervan, at a special price.
